Clement Park is just one of several parks in our\u00a0area of\u00a0Littleton and provides a variety of outdoor activities.\u00a0 It also encompasses\u00a0a locally popular, small lake called Johnson Reservoir.\u00a0 The other day, Biscuit and I decided to go for a walk around the reservoir.\u00a0 Actually, it was I who decided.\u00a0\u00a0Biscuit was just along for the ride and a walk is always good in her book.\u00a0 The weather has been relatively warm and sunny here on the Front Range.\u00a0 Go figure.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Many people use this lake area\u00a0for their exercise; walking, jogging, biking, skating, or just to get out in the sun\u00a0with their dogs.\u00a0 The distance around the lake is about one and a half miles.\u00a0 There are some other paths as well. The prairie dogs have large colonies with expansive regions of holes in the\u00a0open field areas, where they sit up and fertively chirp alarms\u00a0when you pass by near them.\u00a0 There are always geese on the water and\u00a0I greatly enjoy watching\u00a0the young kids feed them stale bread.\u00a0 As you can see, it is quite the\u00a0idyllic setting.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

First, Biscuit must go potty (not pee-pee, mind you) in the first few yards and you are required to\u00a0clean up after your pooch.\u00a0 So, for the first bit I am walking down the sidewalk carrying a warm, bright green, very smelly bag.<\/p>\n
Even though the day was fairly warm everywhere else in town, the clouds did a little dance over the sun and it seemed to drop the temp 20 degrees! (An exaggeration, I am sure)\u00a0 While I was shivering at about a quarter\u00a0of the way around the lake,\u00a0a cold wind kicked up to about 20 mph.\u00a0 As part of the lake was frozen, the wind coming off the lake was rather frigid.\u00a0 Of course, I hadn\u2019t even considered the\u00a0possibility of a surprise cold wind like that, since it has been so warm here.\u00a0 My ears were frozen before we even got back to the car!\u00a0<\/p>\n
The idyllic geese had pooped\u00a0huge (did I mention, HUGE!) amounts on the sidewalks and we had to weave our way through the land mines (haven\u2019t they ever heard the term \u201ccurb it\u201d?).\u00a0 So anyway, we walked around the lake then got back to the car and were nearly frozen, when the sun comes blaring out from behind the clouds and the temp warms back up almost immediately.\u00a0 Before my eyes, Johnson Reservoir reemerged\u00a0as the\u00a0ideal place to take your dog for a walk!\u00a0 Perfect timing!<\/p>\n
I did, however, learn that one should keep a warm shirt and maybe some ear warmers in the car throughout the entire year here in Colorado!\u00a0 You know what else? Biscuit never once complained.\u00a0 She\u00a0would just turn and look at me every once in a while, as if to say,\u00a0\u201cAre you crazy? Why are we doing this?\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
